Oh my sky is dark, 'cause the brightest star fell out. By this star alone, did I find my way about. You were my compass in life, and without you I'm completely lost. You were my light when there was darkness and frost. I would like to leave but I cannot find the door. In this dark alone, there is hope for me no more. You were my compass in life, and without you I'm completely lost. You were my light when there was darkness and frost. Oh my sky is dark, 'cause the brightest star fell out. Being here alone, all I want is to be found. You were my compass through darkness and frost. You were my compass in life, and without you I'm completely lost. You were my light when there was darkness and frost. Oh my sky is dark, 'cause the brightest star fell out. Being here alone, all I want is to be found. You were my compass through darkness and frost.

I liked holding your hand and taking a walk. Our bodies were close, our minds linked in talk. And we’d ponder our lives and mysteries shared. Our banter was light, but inside we cared. But sometimes as we walked down the street our minds took a path quite of their own. And so they truly traveled away from our feet, a walk in a walk. Then I’d climb on a ledge and hug you tight. My soulmate were you in the fading light. I can still hold your heart now that I’m alone, like I once held your hand inside my own. I liked holding your hand and taking a walk. Just a moment ago we were a couple in love. I thought I was your girl that I would always be enough But you opened your heart and put on display all your desires you kept tucked away But didn't explain what good could come from so much pain. Just a moment ago we were a couple in love. You said “I won’t leave you”! But you’d already packed your stuff. So you opened the door and just walked away, from so many years and one precious day. And you never knew how many nights I cried for you. Just a moment ago we were a couple in love. You said “I won’t leave you”! But you’d already packed your stuff. So you opened the door and just walked away, from so many years and one precious day. And you never knew how many nights I cried for you. How many nights, how many nights, how many nights, I cried for you.

You will always be the love of my life, and I will stay with you through happiness and strife. It is by your side where I need to be, since only you can make my heavy heart feel free. So my life means nothing if you won’t be mine, and if I have to share you it will have to be fine, it will have to be fine. Every day I spend in hope and in fear ‘cause everywhere I search for words to make you hear, that you will always be what love means to me. You will always be the love of my life, and I will stay with you through happiness and strife. It is by your side where I need to be, since only you can make my heavy heart feel free. You are the wind in my sail. You are calm water and gale. White hills turn green And green leaves turn brown. Now I wear black, once had a white gown. So I am told it’s best for me to leave the past and move on, ‘cause memory is just a trick to make us cling to what’s gone, what’s gone. But I have only the one ship, and one wind to call my friend, and every turn I’ve taken, I’ve only found myself again. You are the wind in my sail. Never can I know Where next my ship means to go. But I’m yours in calm sea and gale.

Please stop this train of loneliness, ‘cause new mistakes can’t undo the old ones from the past. Please try to look past this veil of haziness ‘cause when you do you will see how much your heart still needs mine. Please stop this train of loneliness, ‘cause just our future can heal the wounded past. Please stop this train of loneliness, ‘cause new mistakes can’t undo the old ones from the past. In the past between our hearts, there used to be a bridge. Sadness couldn’t last, because no broken heart stayed alone. Oh beautiful bridge, you seemed so strong. How did we miss where things went wrong? Though I’m looking straight into your eyes, and my arms are reaching for your face, my darling love, I just cannot get to your side. In the past, between our hearts, there used to be a bridge. No distress could last because our love took it away. Please find me again, across this ridge, ‘cause you still know, between our hearts, there used to be a bridge. There is no chance I could explain, how much my life would be in vain If the way across the bridge were forever closed. Please, sweetest love, Send back your heart across the ridge.

The blue sky of my little world, my first thought in the morning, my last thought at night: It’s you, it’s all about you, and I hope that when I find courage to tell you how I feel, you won’t mind. ‘Cause tonight, we are so tight. You told me: let’s be on our guard. Let’s not say the forbidden that makes things so hard. ‘Cause if you think of someone all day long, It doesn’t directly mean that you are in love. Please don’t mind, ‘cause tonight, we are so tight. Freedom, freedom, freedom. Completely free, completely free. Everything’s just a moment; yet everything is linked. Open minds can find freedom, as open hearts can love. Freedom, love, freedom, love. Freedom, freedom: the choice can be tough. The blue sky of my little world, my first thought in the morning, my last thought at night: It’s you, it’s all about you, and I hope that when I find courage to tell you how I feel, you won’t mind. ‘Cause tonight, we are so tight. It’s you, it’s about you, and maybe you can’t be bound. It’s you, it’s all about you. It’s you, it’s all about you. It’s you, it’s all about you, but maybe you’ll come around.

about

The album, You Were My Compass, was written by a woman in the deepest throes of grief and suffering, reeling from the unexpected dissolution of her marriage.

“Every day I spend in hope and in fear, ‘cuz everywhere I search for words to make you hear, that you will always be what love means to me.”

She does not give up. She writes love songs to express her pain, rage, and hope.

She sings him the songs, to save her love.
